Vonage Ventures into Programmable Voice with Nexmo Voice API
Every organization requires communication tools, but not all businesses are the same. And, today’s market reflects this greatly with the growing presence of APIs, allowing developers to piece together the perfect solution for business need – from customer service to the conference room. A rather large piece of this customization puzzle is the cloud, as it enables today’s software-based reality and the developer sandbox to turn idea into reality.
As we wade our way into the 4th wave of solutions, this week Vonage (News - Alert) unveiled the Nexmo Voice API. The new release is a next generation API, which allows enterprises to customize their website, applications in addition to voice and video communications. The solution can be shaped to workflows already in place, providing productivity, and the customer experience is easily improved with the use of a few lines of code.
“When Vonage purchased Nexmo only a few months ago, we knew we could pair Nexmo's APIs with Vonage's voice network to deliver a higher quality programmable voice experience to the market,” said Alan Masarek, Vonage CEO. “We are encouraged by the speed with which we were able to bring enhanced voice capabilities to the Nexmo platform to accelerate the launch of the new voice API.”
Its malleable and open nature allows for capabilities like call control, call recording, text-to-speech, conferencing and programmable call flows to be implemented with ease. And, in addition, a firm could add analytics solutions, bots or artificial intelligence as well.
“Building enterprise-grade voice applications used to be a complex and expensive task. But the new voice API will allow developers to effortlessly create modern voice capabilities with open, agile and globally scalable architectures, enabling customized communications solutions to enrich customer conversations and deepen customer relationships,” said Tony Jamous, president of the Nexmo API Platform. “We are excited to have Vonage's industrial-strength network and second-to-none voice capabilities behind the new API, and the speed with which Vonage was able to help accelerate this launch surpassed our expectations.”
The cloud and user-friendly APIs are turning communications on its head. The ability to create a solution that is feature-rich, robust and fits your needs to a “T” was once impossible. The cookie cutter reality is a relic of years gone by. Let APIs, the cloud and your creativity carve out the future.
